ÉTYM. 1903, in Rev. gén. des sc., no 11, p. 632; de hém(a)-, et amibe.
Biol. Protozoaire (Hæmamœba plasmodium) parasite du sang (hématozoaire), qui, transmis par l'anophèle, est la cause des affections paludéennes.
